Edmonton and Calgary both have symphony orchestras as well as many arts & culture festivals year round. Edmonton has the Citadel Theatre, hosts the International Fringe Theatre Festival every August, and now has a new downtown arena (Roger’s Place).

Edmonton is North America’s northernmost city with a metropolitan population over one million (Wikipedia)
