Songwriters and musicians. Nothing’s more important than learning the truth about Music Lyrics and Copyright Law. In this short video, business lawyer Myron Mallia-Dare recounts the subject.
A songwriter asked a question. He wanted to know if he could possibly use a website to check if he may have plagiarized material from other songs. In response to this question, Myron suggests that while songwriters can use certain websites as resources to search for lyrics they wish to use, there is no single source or website that houses all copyrighted material. Myron goes on to state that it is critical when evaluating whether infringement has occurred that artists remain aware of any material, whether lyrics or a melody, which the artist may have drawn inspiration for the material they create.
