Words in the Dark: Post 5
My new NaNoWriMo “Writing Buddy” this year is Leslie Hodgins, who is writing REBEL DESTINY. On the second day of the contest, she already had double my word count, securing 4,800 words–well above the average of 3,334.
By the end of Day 5, she clocked in 12,095 words, well ahead of me and the average of 8,335.
Let’s get to know Leslie. Her Author Bio reads
I’m always writing. I wrote some poetry in High School and it got published. From then on, I wanted to write a book that would get published.
I’m a mother to 2 wonderful boys. I’m a full-time RMT (registered massage therapist) and fitness trainer. I used to write on the side, though it’s become an obsession in the last 5 years.
My current book, REBEL DESTINY, has been my obsession. I started it 5 years ago and it’s taken off in the last 2 months. I hope to have it finished in the new year and get it published soon.
This is Leslie’s NaNo 2016 project
REBEL DESTINY
Genre: sci-fi/fantasySynopsis
“Two worlds, two women, one purpose.”
Kenna lives on Země, a war torn, post-apocalyptic world complete with gang warfare, mutants, and toxic swamps. Every day is a struggle to survive. She may be leader of her gang, respected by those who love her, feared by those who hate her, but she knows surviving can’t be the only way there is to live.
Aryanna is from Kalypso, a world with a rich history in art, literature, and mythology. Living in a medieval-style world with an enlightened mindset, she is a Princess about to become Queen. She travels her world before ascending the throne to better understand how people think so she can learn the best course of action through experience. Nightmares of Kenna’s life start to haunt her.
The two meet in an unfamiliar place and realize nothing is as it seems on their worlds. There is a bigger threat than either woman imagined, and it will take them working together to bring it down.
Watch for REBEL DESTINY by Leslie Hodgins in the future.
Pre-orders available at Words in the Park 2017. The book is expected to be published in 2018.
