I have had this idea for a while, but this summer I will be putting it into practice. I need to finish some book projects, and writing about my processes, discoveries, and daily efforts along the way will help to keep me in the book mode and may even be relatable to other writers.
So I’ve decided to let my personal series, Snippets of an Author’s Life, out of the closet.
The last thing I need for writing is motivation, but I do need time. As a teacher in a clinic for students with math and literacy disabilities, I prepare, administer, and progress monitor over thirty individualized lesson plans per week. With years of teaching six days a week, multiple moves, major surgery, four kids graduating from post-secondary and high schools, the birth of two grand kids, and dance competitions, football, and taekwondo events, life is a tad eventful.
I typically work throughout the summer, just not six days a week. With July around the corner, I am excited to immerse myself in the novels and the blog, although I won’t be surprised if a short story or article finds its way into the mix.
The three projects, Second Edition of Beyond the Precipice, Beyond the Music, and Druyan, have been delayed for over a year, primarily due to lack of continuity of novel writing time (I will address the need for this in one of my upcoming posts). The upside has been that I kept my sanity by writing short works and exploring new short story genres, which might otherwise not have been written.
However, the novels have been eating at me. They need to be completed and released.
The new blog series will be tagged as “Snippets of an Author’s Life.” I’ll still be posting in my regular categories (writing, editing, parenting, and health) as they come up, but Snippets will make it possible for me to post more frequently, at least twice a week on Sundays and Wednesdays or Mondays and Thursdays. (Added July 15: Snippets posts will now appear on Mondays and Thursdays.)
I hope you enjoy.
Two months are gone already? It feels like I posted this yesterday.
